Adriana Lombari Bonefeld Counselling and Psychotherapy

I am a BACP accredited counsellor and supervisor. I offer a safe and confidential space in which we can discuss and explore the distress caused by the difficulties that you are currently experiencing or by the problems that you are facing in life. I run a private practice located in the city centre of York. I work with adults in both open ended as well as brief therapy, offering a lively face-to-face therapeutic relationship that will respect your individual needs, your unique history, your particular aims and goals.

Apart from experience as a private practitioner, I also have experience of working at the NHS in Primary Care and in the voluntary sector. In these settings, I have worked with a wide range of presentations, from people seeking to understand the impact that past trauma has had on their present life (and by trauma I refer to sexual abuse, domestic violence and emotional neglect and PSTD syndrome due to experiences of imprisonment, war, migration and geographical displacement, acculturation processes) to people who have experienced anxiety, depression, difficulty in adjusting to given life changes (such as loss, relationship problems or changes related to different life stages).

As an Argentine born, my first language is Spanish; thus, if preferred I can offer counselling in that language too. I have lived in the UK for many years and I am able to offer therapy to people who because of their background struggle with cultural adjustment, identity difficulties  and are particularly acute to the dynamics of inclusion and exclusion; integration and separation, identity issues like being/feeling the 'other' and 'othering' others, or are struggling with the longing to belong.
